I just finished my first episode and I’m excited to talk about it. First of all, this drama is beautiful and it definitely fits my taste. Because of that, I can understand if some people may find it boring.
I am those ‘quotes, poems, ballads in the rain, aesthetic, feelings, village, seaside’ etc type of person and honestly would really love to hang out in goodnight bookstore if it exist around my neighbourhood
do you see how beautiful this place is :0

So here are my thoughts about it.
I love how the drama is slow so we can catch every detail of the aesthetics but it’s not draggy. It challenges and goes for different types of closeups and angles unlike other usual kdramas I’ve seen.

I really like how the dop and editor decides to put a 45 degree angle closeup shot when the character is moving/ moving closeup shot and how they cut a zoom out medium shot to a zoom in wide shot, mesmerizing!
Seamless transitions like the fire when the aunt say “really?” On around the 8th minute abt her intention to not go back to Seoul and the door too when she heads out after that scene as an example. Choosing warmth colour palette for grading is a really nice choice for the mood.
The colours give us a sense of peace. Music choice is also very good, calming. They specifically made the ambience and sounds louder and that gave the audience an effect that we are there with them, also helping to give the audience that sense of peace.
Really love the colours. I didn’t read the plot when getting into this drama btw. I only read it after I finished episode one cause I usually do that to see if the drama can make me stay for the rest of the story or not
and also to make me analyze and pay attention more.

Still early in the story, you can already see the two main characters interacting without knowing their relationship, showing how the director play with suspense with these two characters for the audience.
I’m actually liking the style of the camera movements in pretty much all of their shots. It makes the atmosphere and environment lively and it just helped in the emotions imo. And I love how they structure the storytelling, playing around with time and space.
okay now, fangirling time
Their interactions just put a smile in my face every time
since I don’t know any of the plot, I like how the relationship of the characters are getting released bit by bit to the audience

Lastly, this usually only happen in films but I’m trying to spot subtext in this drama as I wanna improve in my analyzing skills. I’m still a newbie film student so I’m also learning. If you see any subtext or if you wanna share your thoughts on this drama, feel free to

Here is some I found.
The first one is when EunSeob ride his bike to look for HyeWon. HyeWon is trying to get a breath of fresh air out and trying to figure out her life.
The first one is when EunSeob ride his bike to look for HyeWon. HyeWon is trying to get a breath of fresh air out and trying to figure out her life.
We didn’t know she had the marshmallow question at first, but when EunSeob’s bike lights shine on HyeWon, it’s a hint that EunSeob is gonna solve HyeWon’s doubts like a sign of enlightenment.
Second one is the kettle. In films, when a director decides to put a boiling kettle or the sound of it, it usually means something is about to happen or as a rising tension. In this case, I’m gonna take that as HyeWon knocking at his door in the rain taking aback EunSeob.
But take note that it usually doesn’t happen that way
this one is way too calming for a tension. In films, when the kettle boils, you’re not gonna feel relaxing instead you’ll feel anxious. Just take it as an add on info for you guys to spot in films next time :3
