This is correct. What Trump can do is try hard to remain relevant. If he persuades enough people that he's still the rightful president, we could have some pockets of trouble.

He can also try to disrupt the transition of power.

Biden answered this question very calmly.

As the virus devastates red states, this article tells us that GOP governors are despairing of Trump's insistence that we ignore the virus. (Trump's idea is that the real problem isn't the virus, but the protesters).

I am going to caution people against repeating headlines without the context of the article. If you look only at the headline, quoted below, you might think Biden is implying things that he is not implying.

I'll attach the article in the next tweet.

Here's the article. I have attached the first few paragraphs.

By "steal" Biden is talking about voter suppression and not counting all the votes. He's not talking about hacking, military operations, or nationwide martial law . . .

7/
Voter suppression has always been the greatest danger.

Quite simply, this is when people are discouraged from voting through disinformation campaigns, or discouraged fro voting because of ridiculously long lines or because . . .

8/
. . .they've been dropped from the rolls and have to go through five additional steps (provisional ballots, etc. etc) so they don't end up voting, or because their ballots were tossed out by local officials.

The thing about voter suppression is we can do something about it.

9/
That's why this year my volunteer work is doing voter protection work in Georgia. (I chose my adopted state well, didn't I?)

And why I keep posting my list of things to do.

If you're worried about the election (and you should be) get busy.

10/
The solution to election-day suppression at the polls is for people to vote early or vote absentee so that most of the voting has taken place before election day

Now let's talk about "what if" rabbit holes.

We have real problems to deal with. Like voter suppression.

11/
Anyone with imagination can come up with horrifying "what if" scenarios. It's easy, plus it's guaranteed clickbait on Twitter and everyone likes to be popular.

I will list a few problems with going into what-if rabbit holes.

12/
Spending time in what-if rabbit holes sucks time and energy, which could be used to solve real problems.

We can't predict what will happen. When we spend all of our time worrying, we usually find out later that we worried about the wrong stuff.

13/
Persuading people that doomsday scenarios are likely makes it more likely that they will give up and disengage.

🔹Trump's con is that he is a strongman and unbeatable.

🔹One goal of active measures is to cause people to lose faith in democracy.

These are tied together.

14/
The simple fact is that Trump will lose the election if enough people vote for Biden. When Trump's term is up (if he has lost the election) he will be escorted from the White House.

If you don't believe that, you've already given up on democracy.

15/
I veered into a discussion of what-if rabbit holes after I glanced at my mentions and saw creative 'what if' worries.

"demo" = people.

Democracy will survive if enough people want it to, and are willing to put in the work.

All the rest is commentary.

16/
Correction. I should have said “confidence” in democracy and not “faith”.

Any other errors are the fault of keyboard gremlins.
