I don’t know if you know this but school districts aren’t the only system that can re-imagine schooling for your community.

The answer doesn’t lie in the creation of learning pods. That’ll create wider opportunity gaps.

The answer lies in community organizing.
Do connect to your systems: housing, transportation, medical, financial.

Do NOT connect with law enforcement, legal systems that harm people, or the carceral state.

Organize *around* them.
If you find that the local school board is determining what you’ll do with your children at school while they wax poetically about ‘in-person’ classrooms & they do this ON ZOOM MEETINGS then you have a part of your answer there.

Organize around them, too.
Communities need to prepare to support educators. Not make them martyrs for a system that wasn’t working for everybody.

Support them when they strike.

And educators? STRIKE.
