A VERY IMPORTANT THREAD

This is a brief thread on the Delhi Minority Commission's report on North-East delhi riots. I have completely read the report (134 pages pdf file). I'll write in brief about every important point and will attach important screenshots.

1) Formation of the fact finding committee:
The committee was created to document the cause of violence,people responsible,role of police & other administration,lists of victim,lists & quanta of damaged properties and related issues. Preface states Delhi police hasn't cooperated

M R Shamshad was the chairman of fact finding committee which prepared the report for Delhi Minority Commission (DMC) and Dr Zafarul Islam Khan is the chairman of DMC. The report was completed on 27-06-2020. Delhi police will be refered as DP in the Thread.

2) Initiation of violence:
The population wise breakup of NE Delhi is attached below. This shows us that a region with high Muslim population was chosen for the preplanned pogrom.

The report says that the pogrom started with Kapil Mishra's speech. He put out call for a rally on his social media to his followers on 23 February. DCP NE Delhi Ved Prakash Surya in full riot gear was standing right next to him when he made the speech. Read sections 1.4.4-1.4.7

After the speech different groups mobs fanned out to local areas carrying rods, petrol bombs, cylinders and other weapons which led to a anti muslim pogrom which continued for 3 days.

3) Systematic Violence:
The violence wasn't spontaneous, individuals and properties were identified first belonging to Muslims and then they were targeted. All this was done stratergically. There are many such examples in "Section 2 Testimonies" section, I'll be mentioning few.

There is a case where there were 40 shops out of which 2 belonged to the muslims. Only these two were looted and then burned. In many cases the adjoining Hindu shops were left untouched. In once case a Gold jwellery shop adjacent to a Muslims show which was looted, left unrouched

Even Dena bank ATM was left untouched. In on case a Muslim landlady lent out 4 shops. 2 to both Hindus and Muslims. 2 shops rented out to Muslims were looted and burned and the shops belonging to Hindus were left untouched. We also have examples where a shop belonging to a Hindu

Gentleman which was rented to a Muslim man was identified and looted not burned because it belonged to a Hindu. Similarly the residential areas were identified a day prior and then looted and set ablaze the next day. As it was wedding season in March/April many houses had stuff..

That qas to be used in wedding like jwellery, furniture etc. All was looted. The mob carrying out attacks was chanting slogans like 'Har Har Modi', 'Jai Shri Ram', 'Modiji kaat do in mullon ko', 'Aaj tumhe Azadi Denge' etc. In some instances the victims were asked to show their..

ID and then targered. A case was mentioned where a victim gave a fake name, he was asked to recite Hanuman Chalisa when he couldn't he was beaten. Officially dead 53, injured 250 and unknown number missing.

4) Destruction of Religious places:
Muslim religious places were specifucally targeted, vandalised. The mob used to collect everything in the mosque to one place and set ablaze everything inclunding Holy Qur'an copies, speakers etc.

The police was always a mute spectator and sometimes also accompanied the mob. in one case The RAF entered a mosque in Mustafabad and started hitting people whereas some locals murdered the Namazis and threw them in Naala. Refer above SS. For more detail read "section 2.2"

5) Role of Police:

It is evident from the report that police was completely biased and with the mob. It can also be seen in many videos. The police didn't register FIRs of the victims easily and many times asked the victims to take out the names of the accused from the FIRs.

In many cases the police arrested the victims themselves. In jaffrabad sit in protest the police hit pregnant ladies with the mobs. When the police would show up the mob would cheer and chant "Jai Shri Ram". Many people aho were a part of mob said in videos that DP is with us

Impact on women:
Women were verbally, physically and sexually abused in the pogrom by Mob and Police. Their Burqas were snatched. The mob repeatedly said "Azadi chahiye, aao dete hain azadi" using the word azadi as a sexual metaphor. There is a case where a police officer pulled.

Sown his pants and flashed his genitals to a woman protestor and said, yeh lo Azadi. Refer the above attached screenshots and read section "2.4 Women and Children" for more detail.

I have explained imp sections of the report in brief. Explaining everything in a thread was not possible. Please read the report. What happened is 100× more horrifying than mentioned in the thread. Every section is explained in very detail. Please read the report yourself.
