The past was awful. I've noticed in my personal life, the people who wax on and on about "the good old days" are the ones who usually are Trump supporters. They are nostalgic for a time that never was.... or manufactured on a TV set.

These are the people who went to their jobs, came home and were glued to the television until it was time to go to bed.

They never wanted to know about anyone else's life.

The lyric from Vertical Horizon's song "Everything You Need" comes to mind"

"You never could get it
Unless you were fed it"

That's their whole lives in a nutshell.

My vision for my own life, take this with a grain of salt, is to improve the world anyway I could.

The people who might long for the "good old days" might not understand me.

Hell, I bought someone a car once.... because it was needed.

Anyway- who wants to go backwards to the "good old days?"

Do they want separate racial bathrooms?

One of the most enlightening experiences for me came on a family motor trip to Tennessee in 1965 or so. I'm from the northeast, my father was a minister to a church with mostly black prisoners.

On this motor trip, I had to use the bathroom. I headed to the first one I saw.

I was grabbed by the shoulder by a BIG black guy who said, "Son, you might not want to go in there," and pointed to the "colored people only" sign above the door.
"Your bathroom is over there," pointing to the bathroom labeled "Whites Only."

That man... in those 15 seconds or so, had a profound influence on my life. He took this as his "normal" and resigned himself to that oppression.

Who the hell wants to go back to that era? Not me. Do Trumpers? Maybe not all, but that might spur their "nostalgia" interest.

In closing, let's move this country forward.

Sorry, Kee, for hijacking your post.

I'm through here in this thread... but not fighting for justice.
