The @Quinyinst is out with a big report today on how to end the endless wars in the Middle East. Our framework ensures that the US doesn’t start nor gets dragged into more needless wars in the region. Here’s the video for the report. >>
The US should end its quest to dominate the Mideast militarily. Our interests there do not require a major troop presence, let alone domination. Rather than stabilizing the region, our military supremacy has undermined stability while making America less safe. >>
We urge for a substantial withdrawal of US troops over the next 5-10 years, REGARDLESS of stability milestones. Otherwise, those who want to keep us in the region are incentivized to destabilize matters in order to prevent US troops from coming home. >>
The US should encourage regional actors to create a new security architecture in the Persian Gulf. The US should help but NOT lead this effort. For the architecture to be durable, it needs to have strong regional buy-in. The region cannot own it if we lead it. >>
The US should immediately end all support for the war in Yemen and engage diplomatically to help resolve the conflicts in both Yemen and Syria. There should be no more blank checks to security partners and to the extent that military aid continues, it must be conditional. >>
Most importantly, the framework we present enables other diplomacy-focused and peace and stability seeking policies to be successful. Experience has shown that within a strategy of military domination, good policies are rarely enacted, and when they are, they seldom endure. >>
The war-hawks have a framework for US policy in the region that ensures that we always intervene and are never allowed to come home. Our framework is designed to maximize US security & stability by minimizing the risk of counterproductive military interventions and endless wars./
