Thinking about how I've gone from 300ish followers pre-lockdown to 5x that now

Primarily I feel bcus I was working on speaking out more explicitly about the things I care about. Which for me meant breaking this idea that I had to appear "professional" and self-censor 24/7
Self-censoring is a white respectability politic - but one we have to play to in order to be palatable, 'professional' or 'academic'

But in working on that & speaking my truth, there's this new idea of being coded as a multiple minority experience source of education
Which means now, I've had to reckon with this idea that I can't be infallible. But I am. I make mistakes and will likely continue to.

My identity has always had multiple intersections, and I'm happy to speak to that truth & find community & help others in similar situations
However, this doesn't mean I'm a spokesperson or a free-for-all education service; not everything I say will be a teachable moment.

I expect you to respect that.
Not to mention the free labour - that can easily slide to exploitation &/ fetishisation - inherent in treating multiple minority folk as a source of education!

I'm happy to educate on my terms. If you want me to educate on yours, please approach & fund or tip me! 🌻
