PSA for clergy, churchwardens, PCC members, everyone who helps care for our churches:

Right now we're somewhere in no-man's land. We're allowed to re-open our buildings but not everyone can or wants to. We want to continue serving those who joined online during lockdown... (1/7)
Many of our communities are more vulnerable than ever and need support. There is a lot of guidance being issued, a lot of factors to consider, a lot of questions you might ask or be asked and it can be difficult to find answers. In other words, you're under huge pressure... (2/7)
Advice from government is changing and being updated frequently. CofE guidance is similarly fast-changing. Those of us working on it do know it's difficult to keep up; we're doing our best to make it as easy as possible, but the situation is complex... (3/7)
We know that continuing limitations over singing and music are painful. We know that many church buildings cannot yet safely re-open, for lots of reasons. We know that the guidance we draft might not cover your exact situation so you feel left on your own... (4/7)
You're faced with challenging questions: whether and how to re-open your church building; how to continue with online worship and keep engaging those who have joined your community this way during lockdown; how to keep serving the most vulnerable in your areas... (5/7)
I just wanted to say:
1. There isn't any one 'right' answer. You're making these choices in an impossible situation. Don't beat yourself up because you don't know what to do.
2. The CofE guidance is there to help you. If it isn't, or if something isn't covered, tell us.
(6/7)
And most importantly...

3. You are doing a wonderful job. It may not feel like it's enough, but it is. Next week will probably be different. Be kind to yourself. If you're struggling, ask for help.

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.
