Ignorant Guy: Man, can you believe these teachers? They've just had an extended summer vacation and they're whining about going back to school in September.

Entitled Guy: Yeah. Like, I understand that they had to work extra hard to invent a remote emergency learning model, but
we need schools to open for the economy to reopen, right? I mean *I'm*still going to work from home bc my office has 40 people in it and that's COVID central right there, but those teachers need to get back in the classrooms.

Ignorant Guy: Totally. Like I get that being in close
proximity to 600 to 2000 people every day is probably not great for COVID transmission but most of those numbers are kids and we know that they don't spread it as much.

Entitled Guy: Actually, we now know that youth aged 10 and up spread it as much as adults
but the risk is necessary, ya know? I've been doing all these zooms for work with my kids at home and I'm sick of the stress and hassle of balancing it all. I need a break.

Ignorant Guy: Yeah. It's not like teachers have kids too. It's well known that teachers' kids are
basically their students and that's why they should be back at school. Kids need their teachers!

Entitled Guy: Well, no, I'm pretty sure some teachers have kids but that was their decision. You don't hear me complaining. And any teacher worried they'll get sick and die
or suffer from severely debilitating long-term health impacts should just find a completely new job in the midst of a global health and economic crisis.

Ignorant Guy: Yeah! Like the gov is obviously coming up with plans to keep them and the kids safe. They should trust our
elected leaders. I mean most people trusted them enough to vote for them, right?

Entitled Guy: Well, truthfully this @OntarioPCParty was elected with only 40% of the popular vote, so most Ontarians didn't vote for them. And if we're being completely honest, @Sflecce has only
committed 7 cents of additional funding per student re: health & safety, but I get it...times are tough.

Ignorant Guy: Yeah! We're all hurting! People have to make sacrifices, including possibly their lives.

Entitled Guy: Sacrifice is definitely required. Well, for others.
I'm actually sending my kids to private school this year. The class sizes are 15-1. Very safe. Also, they've invested in PPE, as well as tools and PD to equip teachers to pivot online when the second wave hits.

Ignorant Guy: Smart!

So much more could be added to this sadly "gleaned from actual convos" convo, but I must now go make coffee to fuel myself through a day on no-sleep due to legitimate nightmares about September.
I mean I didn't even get to #Bill197 and the @OntarioPCParty attempt to dismantle & sell off public ed.

But if you want to take up the mantle and keep the conversation going between two stock characters I deeply despise, you have my blessing...and my sympathy.
