First chunk of stories from Jerez: Marquez's awe-inspiring fightback & crash explained, smooth-operator Quartararo's victory, why Vinales chose the CORRECT front tyre, Ducati & KTM the big improvers and SHOCK! MotoGP first-timer Binder had the pace to WIN! https://www.motorsportmagazine.com/articles/motorcycles/motogp/you-cant-tell-a-tiger-he-shouldnt-go-for-the-kill-2020-motogp-spanish-grand-prix
So stunned by Brad Binder's MotoGP debut that I'm going full-on capitals in case you missed it: BINDER'S PACE WAS GOOD ENOUGH TO WIN THE RACE IF HE HADN'T RUN OFF THE TRACK!
Here it is in black and white: on lap 10 Binder was 29.444 seconds behind the winner. On lap 25 he was 29.640 seconds behind the winner
I really think Vinales chose the soft front so he could push right from the start - despite Moto2 scrubbing away the track's grip - and thereby put pressure on Marquez. It was his only chance and it worked. It's no big deal, it's the kind of thing riders and crews do all the time
