TW // Death

So yesterday I found out a girl who bullied me as a kid tragically passed away. I hadn't heard anything about her for a decade, and I must admit my first thoughts of her were of those awful times. But as I checked her Facebook profile I saw a different story...
People flooding her feed with comments about how she was kind, loving, a great friend who wanted to change the world for the better. Her posts were all petitions for BLM, posts about finding self worth, about standing up for injustice. She was even going to practice law to do so.
And it hit me. The person who died the other night, the woman she was at that moment... she wasn't the bully of my childhood. She was a stranger to me. A kind, loving, compassionate woman who gave everything to those around her.

The bully I'd known already died a long time ago.
All this to say you can change a lot in 10 years. You can become a completely different person. You can learn and grow and become a better version of you. Like the river eroding its banks every day you change a little and grow a little more. Mistakes made and lessons learned ...
Your past doesn't always define who you are now. And those things you regret? Learn from them and you can become better. No one is born a good person, we have to learn to be the best version of ourselves. And work to be the best version of ourselves....
And finally; life is short. Painfully short sometimes. Don't wait to be the person you want to be, don't hold back from saying what you need to say. This is your sign that today is the day. And be safe everyone.
