takeda ittetsu. furudate gave him the name 一鉄 (ittetsu) from the idiom 頑固一徹 ganko ittetsu which means stubborn, inflexible, someone that sticks to their beliefs and tunnel visions towards it.

and why we owe everything to him
takeda was introduced as the vbc’s club advisor and despite having little to no knowledge of volleyball, he did everything he can for the team.

he was very self-aware of his limitations and owned up to them and (over)compensated for everything he lacked
not only was he self-aware and overcompensating, he also TOOK PRIDE in what he was doing.
sure, he was clueless and lacking but he never once lacked in commitment to the team and he knows full well that even though other teachers called him pitiful, if it helps the team, its okay
“however, the speed ar which he can repeatedly bow his head is impossible to quantify” he takes pride in this!!!!!! while most people would probably be ashamed of it, takeda takes pride!!!!
takeda was also one of the firsts to truly believe in what they could do.
takeda’s last panel appearance was a callback to this. when he stopped kagehina from fighting......there’s just...........so many things about this. he never sugarcoated their defeat. he shoves their loss in their faces but also encourages the strength it takes to get up from it
takeda’s stubborness was also to be thanked for dragging keishin back to the gym. his repetitive calls to other schools too was the reason he was able to secure practice matches that could only be done through connections. takeda poured his blood sweat and tears for this team
also dkxnsjdj since karasuno vbc wasnt a team that hasnt brought pride to their school their budget was extremely low and NOT ONCE. did takeda ever hesitate to shell out money from his own mf pockets just to support these boys. all because he believed in them. nothing stopped him
again with the bowing his head
takeda’s one step at a time quotes always finding its way back to hinata even when he was in brazil
this speech will remain one of my favorites.

amidst the chaos, amidst the confusion of everyone in the team AND everyone in the stadium, takeda made hinata focus only on him. only on his words. he knew that amidst everything, hinata needed clarity and his words would be it
if takeda never did this, at this exact moment, i think it would be safe to assume that hinata would still be the reckless player that he used to be in this match. he wouldnt have thought much of it and still overworked himself whenever he could. but takeda’s words said otherwise
and finally, takeda’s first and last appearance in the final arc haha (bawl) hes so proud of his boys. all of his hardwork really paid off. takeda ittetsu (34) karasuno high school vbc head coach
i just think takeda’s efforts are often overlooked becos he lacked volleyball technicality aspects, but he worked just as hard—if not harder—than the players on court.
if takeda allowed his inabilities to consume him, karasuno wouldnt have gone as far as they did
everything karasuno was able to enjoy, to do, was because takeda worked insanely hard on the sidelines. if he wasnt as tenacious and persevering in convincing rival schools to practice with them.

if takeda never believed in them, karasuno wouldve stayed as the flightless crows
had a silly afterthought lol : u would think that with takeda’s characterisation with telltale signs of being a pushover, he’d be one but it’s quite the opposite lol. he makes everyone else around look like the pushovers becos at the end, takeda gets what he wants hahaha
