Some positive guidance in here for @leicesterscitt trainees, although I am not sure that I recommend it all.

Be careful not to get drawn into a protracted discussion around behaviour & also utilise your relationship with your mentor. https://neu.org.uk/advice/behaviour-tips-trainee-teachers">https://neu.org.uk/advice/be...
- Know the school policy & what your mentor/class teacher has set with the class

- set clear expectations for behaviour - actually teach these (like a curriculum) & reinforce them regulalry

- be consistent and follow through (but explore the reasons behind the behaviour)
- Use then least invasive strategy to readdress the behaviour.

- Be conscious NOT to create a win-lose scenario "you will do it, or else" rather empower people to change their behaviours through support & redirection

- follow through (don& #39;t make a threat you won& #39;t action)
@tombennett71 talks about 3 types of behaviours:

- behaviours they CAN& #39;T not choose to do (eg a student with Tourette& #39;s syndrome calling out)

- behaviours that are hard to change (cultural expectations- things they are raised to belive/do)

- behaviours that are easy to change
In fact, make @tombennett71& #39;s book & #39;Running the Room& #39;, one of your must reads!!
