For me, the big story about #gpt3 is not that it is smart - it is dumb as a pile of rocks - but that piles of rocks can do many things we thought you needed to be smart for. Fake intelligence may be dominant over real intelligence in many domains.
I accept the systems response to the Chinese Room, but I think a lot of #gpt3 cool apps are more priming and fakery (on the AI side) than actual emergent systems & representation - but what there is, is enough to ground fake intelligence to be effective.
I also think we are seeing the proper start here of a comprehensive AI service ecosystem. Still at the homebrew computer club level, but somewhere there is a longhaired Steve Jobs with a rickety demo...
