Nobody seriously invested what was needed in the Hydrogen economy, and now 'electric batteries VS hydrogen fuel cells' in vehicles has been resoundingly won by EVs. This didn't have to be this way. (1/n)
As the world shifts to batteries from hydrocarbons,we are exchanging one ecological disaster with another. Batteries are complicated.Mining for crucial metals like cobalt, lithium, nickel, copper is never going to be eco-friendly. (2/n)
DR Congo,Madagascar, Philippines already have conflicts that have killed & displaced many, ranging from thousands to millions. The new "gold rush" for 🔋-making metals mean Western countries,China are going to take a special interest in them (4/n)
Precisely because mining these metals is the opposite of eco-friendly,even if countries like Canada has these stuff in abundance, mining costs will skyrocket in order to comply with strict environment protection regulations.(5/n)
The result will be a mad rush to developing countries having such metals, with lax or rarely enforced environment protection rules. You see where I am going with this?(6/n)
This is why governments, including countries like Turkey, need to invest in hydrogen fuel cells, particularly in reduction of costs of hydrogen transportation+storage, and not be held hostile to the inevitable geo-politics of 🔋manufacturing. (7/n)
