A high level summary of things to keep in mind while writing your thesis. Think like an examiner and learn how to evaluate your own research. A thread. #Past3amSquad #AcademicTwitter
1. Topic and title: Is the topic relevant and does it reflect the nature of the study?
2. Research problem: Is the problem clearly formulated? Does the research problem identify the gap in literature? Is the problem significant enough to warrant the research?
3. Research objectives: Are your research objectives congruent with your research objectives? Are your research questions inline and linked to your research objectives?
4. Literature review: Is your literature adequate and recent (5 years)? Are key theoretical concepts defined and reviewed? Are seminal studies in that particular area included? How have you differentiated your study from what has already been done?
5. Research design: Has the research design been appropriately chosen and justified? Qualitative vs quantitative? Is it linked to the research objectives? Has the choice of research design been adequately explained?
6. Language proficiency: Logical flow of the argument? Referencing technique? Consistent use of terms throughout the study? Is your numbering method consistent? Complete reference list?
7. Lastly, remember you write first and edit later. It’s easy to edit and add “meat” to something that already exists than start from scratch. Have a fantastic week ahead. Let’s create magic đŸ‘©đŸżâ€đŸ’»â˜șïžđŸ§šđŸœâ€â™‚ïž
