The sheer size of the information overload we face is leading people to begin a new kind of existential search. Which is birthing various new religions, and reanimating long sleeping ideologies, whilst overlaying politics with a religous energy.
The cultural move from ‘religion to spirituality’ was about the shift from institutions to individuals. Now however amidst the failings of hyper-individualism, these new internet driven religious/cultural movements represent the shift from individual to network.
A dense web of individuals with weak relational connections to each other, yet still through online platforms working together in a kind of crowd sourced interpretive engine, pouring over, building upon, and remixing the Ur-conspiracies.
Creating a kind of live gnostic meta digital-scripture, which morphs and adapts to interpret significant political, cultural and global events, for its initiates / followers / creators.
