this year I learned a lot about myself. I thought I was really amazing at communication. realized I wasn’t. I was communicating in the best way I thought was right always, but just learned one style of communication doesn’t fit all situations/people.

The proverb about “approaching an ant as an ant and not as an elephant” made more sense to me. Communicating emotions/feelings need the best approach that the recipient understands/is familiar with.

The best way I can summarize this is - you can scream “I love you” to a deaf person but they can’t hear you just cause you’re not talking to them they way they understand. Comm isn’t about telling it your way, it’s also about saying it in the way the recipient understands.
