Genuine question for my data vis friends:
What *is* the best way to color maps that will be recreated over time? With continuous data, the default color scale is based on min/max of the data on hand, how should the max be picked in a pandemic when we don't know what it may be?

The thing I can currently think of is to update the "max" color continuously but that is not trivial to program into an application that updates each day
I'm not sure these maps are the best way to compare this type of data unless they are created in retrospect
