I'm somewhat surprised that the false teaching of "purgatory" has endured this long. Not only does this heresy directly contradict all of scripture, but we know why the Catholic Church invented it! It was a very very profitable endeavor for them. (1/5)
Who wouldn't pay money to the church if they truly believed it could save a friend or relative? Especially without the ability to check what these wolves in sheep's clothing were telling you against God's holy word. Why wouldn't you trust them? (2/5)
The lie of purgatory became untenable once the common people were able to read the scriptures for themselves. Thank God He broke the stranglehold of that crooked establishment! Sadly, the lie of purgatory lives on, but with a convenient twist. (3/5)
Now instead of paying your way out of purgatory, you're instructed to pray people out of this mythical location. Read the Bible and you will quickly see what a bold-faced lie this teaching is. When we die, we are immediately sent to heaven or hell. There is no in-between. (4/5)
P.s What an insult to Christ. "Sorry, but your blood isn't sufficient to cover all my sins."
We won't have a second chance to make things right in the afterlife. Either you've been forgiven and born again, or you haven't.
"I am the way, the truth, and the life."

Since apparently I'm not "educated" enough, here's a guy with a few more degrees than me. https://www.gty.org/library/blog/B180718/the-false-hope-of-purgatory
