Remember when I wrote the thread asking why Canadian mainstream media isn’t doing its job? This might be why.

Because it’s no longer Canadian. An American hedge fund owning >60% of Postmedia shares directs Canadian news & is in the process of dismantling journalism in Canada. https://twitter.com/goldsbie/status/1284577340845166593
This is probably partially why mainstream media refuses to cover the attempted assassination of the Prime Minister and rather chooses to excoriate him and a Canadian charity for youth empowerment instead.

Foreign ownership means foreign interests are primary.
What does the refusal to adequately inform the public about an attempted assassination and choosing instead to eviscerate the intended victim in a hyperbolized fake scandal say about the Canadian media that has the largest readership in Canada?
It says the media isn’t going to acknowledge the significance of an assassination attempt. As they continue to repeatedly assassinate the character of PM Trudeau and Finance Minister Morneau.

Are you seeing a pattern? A theme? A central narrative?
Mainstream media is entirely complicit in radicalizing Canadian citizens and keeping those less vulnerable to radicalization in the dark about what’s happening.

Canadians can no longer trust mainstream media to report facts and truth.
When you go out of the way to ignore an attempt on the life of the national leader, and follow that up with an attempt to discredit the same leader with trumped up accusations of corruption & poor ethics, what you’re really saying is the assassination attempt was justifiable.
It’s tacit approval for radicalized extremists to continue to remove the Prime Minister and the sitting government.

One could argue it is just the news if both stories were featured, along with analysis on the motives of the attempted assassin, like WE & PM are receiving.
But that’s not the current situation. Instead we have ‘kid glove’ barely mentioned coverage of the attempt and the would be assassin and over saturation of the accusations made by far right and far left about the motives and actions of PM and WE.
It’s that obvious. But did you notice?

No?

Most of the tweets and Facebook posts I read on the subject are defensive replies to the fake scandal accusations. Most people are responding to the bait and amplifying the fake scandal. Completely ignoring the assassination attempt.
This is exactly what the media is provoking you to do. Ignore the close association between the attempted assassin’s manifesto and CPC talking points and focus on defending the PM’s character.

It’s like shooting fish in a barrel. Easy targets and close to 100% success rate.
YOU are the problem if you continue to ignore the assassination attempt and continue to propagate a fake scandal meant to make you and every other Canadian forget that a radicalized far right Q’Anon supporter attempted to kill the PM.
Sorry if that hurts your feelings, but that is speaking truth to the masses.

You want to #standwithTrudeau then stop amplifying bullshit fake scandals and start demanding answers from the media that is leading us all down the garden path.
THE PRIME MINISTER HAD A FAR RIGHT EXTREMIST ATTEMPT TO TAKE HIS LIFE.

Who would benefit from the death of the PM? Just take a wild guess?

Exactly. The far right politicians who would demand an election. Don’t listen to polls. Why do you think they are pushing a fake scandal?
To impact the public’s approval rating for PM Justin Trudeau. And it’s working. Just like the fake scandal about SNC and JWR worked to sink support for LPC from 9 months prior to the federal election right up until Election Day. Along with a myriad of smears and aspersions.
The media is playing the public like a violin. Citizens react, emote, complain, defend, condemn on cue.

STOP allowing manipulation of your emotions to avert your attention. STOP swimming like a school of fish from one firehose crisis to another and ignoring the real news.
This is exactly the strategy used to elect Trump in 2016. Remember Benghazi? Well, cons need to invent scandals in Canada, because PM Trudeau doesn’t have a Benghazi blunder.

Stop chasing squirrels when the media shouts “squirrel!” How about we demand the media report the news?
So I made reference to foreign ownership. And took a deeper dive.

Remember when I said I had more to add to the original thread?

Well, it’s very interesting. Explains much that’s happened in the last three years. https://twitter.com/sunnshiiny/status/1280871381706522634
It’s bad enough we have foreign interference in information dissemination which is preventing Canadians from learning about crucial information that impacts our nation and provinces. But a connection to Trump would seriously put into question the sovereignty of Canada.
The first thing an autocrat does is eliminate ALL dissent in media. Autocrats remove opposition to their narrative & agenda so all you hear & see is what they allow.

That occurred in Canada three years ago. When Chatham Asset Management bought a controlling share of Postmedia.
Canada is a post truth environment. Postmedia controls the lion’s share of Canadian media & has a near monopoly. While other outlets exist, like Torstar, Postmedia controls the written media in rural communities. It’s the only source of information. They set the narrative.
This news is terrifying because Chatham just acquired the bankrupt McClatchy media in the US. The Miami Herald, the newspaper that exposed Jeffery Epstein’s child sex racket, is now under control of Chatham. Read the embedded thread in first tweet.
Chatham is the same group that owns National Enquirer. David Pecker admitted to “catch and kill” information withholding during the 2016 presidential campaign. The same illegal action that has Michael Cohen in prison.
This is what Cohen pleaded guilty to; arranging the “catch and kill” with Peckham.

Mr. Peckham, got a sweet deal, including immunity from prosecution for cooperating with Southern District of New York.

Chatham was a major shareholder when these crimes were committed.
If you thought the shit show in the US hadn’t crossed the border, guess what, they’ve been here for three years. Why do you think we have a minority government? Why do we have never ending coverage of fake scandals meant to smear our duly elected government?
Why is WE the topic of conversation and not the recent attempted assassination of the Prime Minister?

Because a Trump connected hedge fund controls information in Canada.

That is an urgent crisis.

Filter the chaff and focus on the wheat.

Ok, now that I have your attention, let’s get to the meat of the issue.

Postmedia is ignoring information on a would be assassin to hammer away at the debunked like junk WE issue.

What else is Postmedia doing? Nothing much, just aiding voter suppression.
Post media has bought up smaller Canadian media outlets for years & converted them to syndicated news or closed the outlet. Leaving some communities, mostly rural, with no other news source, besides Facebook and other online network sources.
Postmedia has also been laying off experienced (expensive) investigative journalists in droves (to “cut costs”). That’s what the NY Times embedded article is about. Interviews of Postmedia employees & about the impact Postmedia has had on Canadian news and access to information.
I’m using Alberta to demonstrate how mainstream and social media impacts voter turnout. Many believe Canada does not have a voter suppression problem. But I’m going to demonstrate, using Alberta as the example, how suppressing votes works anywhere. It’s primarily media influence.
All news in Alberta is monopolized by Postmedia. Few independent news outlets remain. Those independent news outlets are small & often online only.

That means they have a limited impact on transfer of knowledge to the public because of limited readership.
So this is why Alberta seems so conservative. Postmedia has a monopoly in Alberta, urban and rural.

We aren’t. 64% of the Albertan eligible voters did NOT vote UCP in the 2019 prov election. Only 36% did. About 1/3 of the electorate, a minority, won the majority of ridings.
Many believe voter suppression is banning voters, but political apathy & alienation is far more effective than overt disenfranchisement. Certain Political parties have been using it for years. We just don’t talk about it. The media doesn’t cover it, much. But it has been studied.
Voter suppression is happening across the globe. Alberta is no exception.

Many AB ridings were won with a “majority,” but significant portions of the electorate did not vote at all, despite the extensive efforts of NDP government to provide easy access to cast a ballot. Why?
Access to casting a ballot is assumed to be the reason for voter apathy. But it isn’t. If people want to vote, they’ll make it happen.

When Alberta was a new province, electoral turnout was in the 85-95% range. Almost every eligible voter cast a ballot.
Think about this for a moment. Most people were agrarian (farmers). Roughly 80% lived in a rural setting. That means they had to travel by horse and buggy, or walk to the nearest polling station. Sometimes it was a two day trip. One way.
When people believe their vote matters, they vote. Many non voters are demoralized and disgusted with the process of voting. They are repelled by the negativity that has become common fare. How did it get to be so negative?
Cynicism predicts voting behaviour, not access to poll booths. Media coverage and amplification of negative campaigning creates disgust & cynicism. It is induced apathy.

As volume and animus of negative rhetoric increases, the more cynicism and induced apathy is produced.
That’s right. As more negative editorials and fake scandals are published and amplified, the level of disgust and cynicism correspondingly increases in the PROGRESSIVE’s voter base. Specifically the provincial NDP voter base. Why only NDP?
Information about other political parties is ignored. That’s right, articles about CPC, UCP, AB Greens, Alberta Party, Alberta Liberals are ignored. The only corruption profiled ad nauseum in Postmedia in Alberta is about NDP. Thus, creating bias against ABNDP.
During AB prov election in 2019, several scandals about UCP, specifically Jason Kenney & alleged crimes, were revealed. Only on line progressive news sites reported it. It was ignored by all Postmedia, provincially and nationally, until immediately prior to Election Day.
Then it was presented alongside all the negative attack ads NDP had released & editorialized as false accusations to derail the UCP. The information emerged in January 2019 on twitter. Postmedia didn’t acknowledge it until early April 2019 & presented as a desperate attempt.
Some Canadians knew since Jan/19 that Kenney was being investigated for identity fraud and cheating. But those who rely ONLY on Postmedia for access to news didn’t find out about it until April.
Except some of us kept questioning why it wasn’t reported, with no corroborating evidence, except what is perceived as partisan progressive news sources. CBC reported it first. Then other sites trickled in with reporting. Last was Postmedia.
It’s mind games. Timing, selective ignoring, editorializing, and a load of propaganda unloaded through far right online network sites. That shapes perception. And attitudes. And creates cynicism, by design in swing voters. Intentionally.
That’s voter suppression using military grade psyops in mainstream media editorials to manipulate perception, after copious propaganda from far right “news” as counter propaganda to progressive on line “news.”

Otherwise known as 1/2 of a modern version of the Finkelstein Method.
Another induced state is political alienation; issues and concerns are not represented at all. So the withdrawal from the process of voting is political alienation. Alienation is induced.

The cause of alienation is not disengagement. Disengagement is a result of alienation.
Many attribute disengagement as a cause, but it is merely a symptom. Take youth for example. The youth electorate is often described as disengaged. But their issues don’t receive support from politicians or media. Their alienation from the political process results in apathy.
Voting is about choosing our future, so the youth vote (18-25 yrs of age) should be highly invested in voting. It’s their future, the middle aged have generally chosen a life path already. But, youth turnout is typically below 20%. Why?
Because they have no capital. No money. People who do have money are the middle aged and the elderly. Who do politicians and political parties cater to? Those who have money.

The system is set up to alienate youth. Youth remain cynical about the voting process & disengaged.
Now use the pattern of behaviour I just described to assess Postmedia’s response to an assassination attempt on the PM, & the subsequent coverage of WE scandal where LPC was including youth in COVid benefits with job experience & compensation, designed especially for them.
