1. GOP won in 2016 despite dog whistles and blatant racism. They won despite pettiness and lack of decorum. Let me tell you: they NEEDED a boost and Trump gave it to them.

It hit them: we can win by being openly hostile to democracy. No one will care!
2. Recall that when the GOP Primary was going on in 2015, the establishment GOP was absolutely against him. But then it dawned on them that his cult following gave them a key ingredient to winning an election: ENTHUSIASM.

All aboard the Trump train to FUCK America.
3. Of course the help of foreign interference ultimately put everything over the edge. The GOP welcomed it too.

But make no mistake, one critical vulnerability was that much of sane America was ASLEEP in 2016; hungover on 8 years of “normalcy and progress”.
4. Yes, many of us were complacent. We were operating under the false notion that democracy was guaranteed; that it would near always be. Boy, were we wrong. I personally did not knock one door or do any ground work. I was not actively involved.
4. But this story has a twist...
5. You see...the GOP was on life support before Trump. Remember, he was their shot of adrenaline. And they have latched on ever since; forever beholden to his evil and psychotic impulses. Forgetting that eventually adrenaline wears off.
6. The 2016 playbook of fear, racism and pettiness is not being received like it was in 2016. Remember, back then we still had debates about being too “politically correct”. It was a different time. But ever since the open racism and bigotry has been flaunted so brazenly...
7. ...Ever since the rest of us watched our democracy (or the facade of it) be handed over to the worst people...we have galvanized like a time never before in history.

*see the 2018 Midterms when the GOP got their ASSESS handed to them, losing 40 seats.
8. The GOP can’t pivot though. They stuck. They can’t turn on Trump. He owns the base. They need a base to remain in positions of power (after Trump is gone).

After all, without a base, all they’d have is their integrity and honor and they don’t have any of that to begin with.
9. So all the expectations of them to turn on Trump are silly. Some might be compromised. Sure. I think some just see this as a power play. The smart ones resigned. The rest are gambling and it’s a losing gamble. I mean come on...QAnon? Seriously?
10. My hope was restored in 2018 (thanks @BetoORourke). When we won the House despite our 2016 PTSD. I knew we could do it. Our coalition has only gotten bigger while theirs has severely diminished.
Our rage has been channeled and our eye on the prize.
11. Losing isn’t an option for me. It shouldn’t be for you either.

When I saw the WORLD protest George Floyd’s death, I knew change was on the horizon. Something changed & the GOP severely miscalculated.

They depend on our apathy. Millions of people in the streets ain’t apathy.
12. Pushing back against the corrupt and powerful is their worst nightmare. We believe in fairness. Truth. Honesty. Integrity.

And we have the numbers that they could only dream about (which is why they work so hard to suppress our votes rather than expand their own).
13. So as the whole world has reached a tipping point and the USA has been forced to wake up to the reality of our past, the GOP has effectively poked the bear: a unified population ready to vote them all out for what they’ve done to us.
14. Make no mistake: They will cheat. They will gaslight. They will somehow claim to be victims. Fuck that trash. Vote anyway. Overwhelm them with our strength of character and drive to fulfill this country’s promise of a more perfect union.
