I wish we were as committed to reducing income disparity & creating a truly egalitarian society as we are to removing the ills from the film industry.
I think we should worry more about 1% of our richest owning almost 40% of our national wealth.
Let’s talk of giving opportunities to our most marginalised.
And since we’re all feeling so generous let’s pass on our privileges to those who will never have an opportunity otherwise.
The film industry welcomes more outsiders and gives people chances to enjoy unprecedented success more than any other business.
Almost everyone I know has come from outside the industry. They have succeeded because of their talent and hard work and the love that the audience has bestowed upon them.
The real makers of an artist’s success are the patrons. So next time go watch a new comers film and give their career a boost. Promote new talent. Give their films more business and no bollywood “mafia” will be able to stand in the way of their success.
Yes there are systemic problems, much like other businesses. But there is an equal amount of good, kind, generous & honourable people there too.
And I stand by those good kind, generous & honourable people because #IAmAnOutsider and they took me in.
