Last week, I had to have surgery for an ectopic pregnancy. I’ve felt every emotion possible. Rage, guilt, hope, grief... but I shouldn’t have had to feel so lonely. The lack of information & support is astounding. Whoever needs to hear this: you are not alone.
Fun fact! Did you know that algorithms are so sophisticated that you can obsessively search for “miscarriage” for 6 weeks and STILL get maternity wear ads a week after surgery? DO YOU THINK A WOMAN DESIGNED THAT CODE? #FemTech this is not a drill.
Don’t tell me you’re sorry for my loss. Get mad and get organized about the lack of inclusion and human-centricity in tech. Build a world with more empathy. And above all, lift the silence so no one ever feels they are going through something like this alone .
The physical and emotional pain have caught me off guard. But I’m also flooded with feelings of love, gratitude and hope. There is an after. Life goes one, as impossible as it seemed in that moment , and it’s beautiful. So , I’ll raise a glass to that.
