#WhyImATransAlly

1. I know a woman who is trans. I know her to be as much of a woman as I am. I know she’s not a liar. I know she’s not deluded.

2. My AFAB ex went from being a tad chaotic while pretending to be a lesbian to a happy and stable husband and father.
3. I’ve got a friend I’ve know for 20+ years, who’s clever and really funny, so it’s hard to describe exactly how they didn’t fit but there was something. Last year they mentioned, casually, that they are non binary and it was the answer to a niggeling question I’d never asked.
Until my non binary friend told me they were non binary, I’d found they/them pronouns inelegant and I’d do my best not to use them, (without being a wanker) but I think more of them than I enjoy pedantry.
Finally, I’ve never met a transphobe whose intelligence I respected. Some can argue well, better than I can, many shout louder but transphobia is fundamentally a hobby for the dull and stupid, people without the imagination to understand that some people are different to them.
If you haven’t already, this is very much worth a read...
