1/ This is an important article from @CDC_EIDjournal -- pay attention to 2 things:

1) rate of household transmission of #covid19 is several fold higher than non-household

2) detection rate from cases where index case was a kid is higher than adults

https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/eid/article/26/10/20-1315_article
2/ We have known that household transmission is a serious concern for quite some time. Getting people to wear masks outside the home is hard enough; many have voiced that in the home is a lost cause.

Yet if the home is where this disease is spreading, we need to do something.
3/ Obviously this would be better control outside the home. But we clearly are not doing this well right now.

Taking certain precautions at home will be essential, especially when we are not utilizing quarantine/isolation outside the house like many other countries did.
4/ The transmission from younger age groups, including age 10-19, to others is notable.

The study is not perfect- they did not know the directionality of spread, and we can't be sure that the household contacts weren't infected outside the home.
5/ Furthermore, understanding the epidemiological implications of schools closure here is unclear to me, as schools were closed, meaning kids were at home for longer (higher chance to spread), but also means they had less exposure to other kids (less chance to be infected)
6/ Nonetheless, this is the largest contact tracing data set I have publicly seen w/ 59,000 contacts, so the general trends from here of:
- household transmission being much higher, and

-kids having a significant number of cases traced back to them are both very important.
