Thread: What would a counterintelligence investigation focus on, and what would it find?

The central question of the counterintelligence investigation into Trump is whether he’s compromised by ties to Russia. In fact, McCabe suspected Trump was a full-blown Russian agent.
As McCabe explains in The Threat, the FBI uses the Enterpirse Theory of Investigation when examining someone’s ties to a criminal organization. This involves following two key things: (1) money and (2) associations.
Trump’s financial ties to Russia would be easy for the FBI to investigate, assuming they were able to get his financial records from Deutsche Bank. (I address the question of whether the FBI got Trump’s financials in a separate thread you can find in my pinned thread.)
What the FBI would find in Trump’s financials is Russia was funneling money to Trump through Deutsche Bank and through investments by Russian oligarchs in his tower projects. And of course they’d find the big Florida property sale, Miss. Universe Moscow, Trump Tower Moscow, etc.
Even if the FBI didn’t get Trump’s financial records (and it’s pretty unreasonable to think they did not), they could still nail him based on his associations with Russians.
Primary suspects would include Felix Sater and Sergei Millian, both of whom have clear ties to the Russian mob and Russian Intelligence, and spent years helping Trump find Russian investors.

Right Sergei? https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/video/us-russia-businessman-claimed-ties-donald-trump-july-45022871
I’m not going to lay out all of Trump’s known ties to Russia. My point is merely that Trump’s ties to Russian money and Russia mafiosos and intelligence assets provide fertile ground for an FBI counterintelligence investigation.

McCabe explained it here: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/trump-inc/id1344894187?i=1000440028207
Note that none of the evidence of Trump’s ties to Russia from before he became President could possibly be construed as classified information, so DNI Ratcliffe has got a big problem on his hands in the form of Senate Intel’s report on the counterintelligence investigation.
