Cédric Itten (96) - Centre-Forward. St. Gallen. 🇨🇭

A key part of the young talented St. Gallen side that are currently top of the Swiss Super League (1st tier). He's 2nd top scorer in the division with 15 goals.

Could make the transition to Bundesliga/ Ligue 1/ Serie A standard
Itten usually starts as one of two strikers in Peter Zeidler’s 4-3-1-2 formation, but he has dropped off in behind the strikers occasionally.

He functions well in the former RB Salzburg manager's aggressive playing style. He presses efficiently, averaging 6.1 pressing duels p90.
He's also vital in build-up. At 189cm Itten is a physical presence, able to play the role of target man which his team utilises for their direct style of play. He's has 3.22 successful aerial duels p90 this season.

His aerial ability inevitably makes him a threat in the box too.
With 4 headed goals already this season, he’s a constant outlet for crosses, often from the overlapping right-back Silvan Hefti.

Itten also anticipates brilliantly around the 6 yard box. Countless times this season he’s had a clear cut opportunity due to his inherent intuition.
These characteristics allow Itten to get a lot of shots away in good areas. He’s amassed a stellar non-penalty xG of 0.56 p90 this season.

Finishing is however perhaps not his strongest point. He’s underperformed his total NP xG by 4.27 across all competitions this season.
Itten can perhaps be forgiven for shooting from difficult scenarios, considering St.Gallen’s tendency to shoot from range.

He strikes the ball cleanly with his more favoured right-foot, often showing great technique. His left-foot is usually reserved for close range finishes.
It's wrong to pigeon-hole Itten simply as a target man. He’s a versatile part of a fluid front 3.

He often drifts wide, using strength & ball control to hold off defenders. This is illustrated by his 4.53 attempted dribbles 4.53 p90 & the equally impressive 55.1% success rate.
Itten's creativity shouldn't be ignored, frequently squaring the ball from wide. He has 0.53 deep completed crosses p90 & makes 2.47 passes to the box too.

His 3.38 xA value doesn’t do him justice, given he has just 2 assists. It should be noted he has 4 2nd assists this season.
Cédric Itten is brilliant & whether he sticks with St. Gallen or a team from one of Europe’s top 5 leagues snaps him up, his future is clearly bright.

Given his potential & versatility he'd be a welcomed addition to most attacks & a dream signing for numerous managers.
Great signing by Rangers. https://twitter.com/RangersFC/status/1290694549887750144?s=19
