I'm sick of the "God gave you what you can handle" bs. NO. There's no mystical force behind your suffering but REAL social, political, economic causes maintained by those in power.
This only dilutes the accountability of the real culprits. Don't let your god become a scapegoat

stop resilience pornography!!! stop fetishizing the underdog!!! stop glamorizing and trivializing trauma into a potential 'testimony'
given the responses, don't get me wrong. i get that believing in a higher power is consolation, but let it not distract us from our AGENCY to act upon our circumstances and to challenge STRUCTURES. +
You can have religious beliefs and recognize that such institutions can also become manipulative ideological state apparatuses. Participation and criticality are not mutually exclusive. Participation does not mean absolute agreement or unfailing compliance. +
I recognize its power of consolation. But upon wallowing in your emotion which is VALID, what's next? We don't wait for miracles. We don't wait for a mystical power. Walang himala. We act. We find the sources of oppression and respond accordingly.
If someone was assaulted, you don't tell them "God gave you what you can handle". You find, indict, prosecute the perpetrator. If a worker was not given just compensation, you don't say its because of an obscure mystical plan. You demand higher wages, you unionize.
If the Filipino people are dying because of gov't incompetence, you don't tell the grieving families, "it's all God's plan". You demand accountability.
There's a fine line between consolation and delusion. In your consolation, do not succumb to fatalism. Tama na sa "Bahala na".
