I wasn& #39;t going to join in the yarn substitution debate as it& #39;s the weekend but i have thoughts on this, obviously.

This whole discussion about providing lists of alternative yarns is actually pretty funny to any non-US based knitter.
We are already used to substituting yarns from online US sites - Ravelry, Knitty, Vogue Knitting etc

As a UK designer I can give a list of recommended yarns - in the UK. I can& #39;t do the same for every other country I sell patterns to.
50% of my sales are to non UK countries

A list of yarn recommendations is only valid at a particular point in time. Will it still be helpful in a year, in 5 years, do I need to update it as yarns are discontinued or put-ups change?
The idea that this whole discussion, under the banner of inclusivity is taking place in such a US-centric conversation is pretty laughable to be honest.
