On Monday former K9 Ozzy died in the arms of his handler PC Dale James.
As Dale prepared to bury him in his garden, his best friend Bailey lay next to him for one last goodbye.

Ozzy, a 14-year-old Dutch Herder, served in our @npdogsection for
years before he hung up his lead and retired in 2014.
Labrador Bailey continued to work as a specialist search dog for two years before he retired to spend more time with Dale and best mate Ozzy

Nearly 14 years ago, Dale's previous dog Stella (pictured) was buried under the apple tree in his garden.
Ozzy was just a pup but he lay next to her to keep her company as his owner dug the grave.

On Monday, Ozzy passed away in Dale's arms and he took his body to the same spot to bury him under the apple tree
