@andrewellson @csgmoore as I have regularly said Covid-19 has been the work from home revolution that we are all living through All major Corporates will look to reduce office property estate by 30-50% - amazing addition to bottom line for CFO
This does not mean every day at home but rather the offices becomes origination/collaboration/networking/training space with few desks - why deliver in the office when home so much easier all round
Staff save commute time and cost. Employer the property cost but also why have London weighting when talent pool because of Microsoft Teams can be nationwide
This ability to use experts from anywhere on a video means Government could deliver the levelling up agenda - people will live in nicer (garden) places and only commute when have to. Spending will move from cities to towns and villages or conurbation to rural if speaking more
Broadly. This does not mean death of the office - people will fall into a mode depending on where they spend 3 plus days a week with modes being third party site/office/home - people in all modes will spend time in the office Home mode people will generally spend 3-4 days a
Fortnight in the office - these days may be longer as will include social for team bonding
Home working allows work life balance - breakfast/dinner with kids. Chance for a run (I have gone from 83-71kg in lockdown) and better diet. Chance for charitable work or contributions (I have donated coffee money saved)
Hence Government should be embracing not worrying re increased WFH. Employers will become output based as in winter home workers will want to use light in the day but given millennials don’t like fixed hours all in effect Covid-19 has done is the revolution 5 years early and

PS - 1m social distancing means @TfL can only run at 25% capacity, 2m 20% so already living the change
PPS logic for HS2 with WFH revolution looks weaker
