Is it surprising that those who most speak of enlivening the monotheistic spirit that leads to the likes of early medieval Andalusia/Baghdad are foremost in every regressive & reductive way of thinking to impede any path to it?
Any appeal to making sense, or a rejection of magical thinking disparaged as Mu'tazili. Reasoning God's law is 'evil modernism'. Making sense of God's will in non-normative contexts is secularism. They simply have an Islam they can't move w/ nor provides anything constructive.
Having had this conversation repeatedly for over decade it's clear to see it's cowardice. Change/growth tends to be uncomfortable & ppl reductively appeal to a 'tradition' they've made up like fairy tales (bc the books are v different) use it to simply stay in their comfort zone.
They're SO desperate for comfortable status quo to remain they'll audaciously argue w/ Qur'an fully aware they know nothing. Same w/ hadith. Whoever points this out is arrogant, tho true arrogance is to speak on behalf of God knowing they know v little. Not even classical Arabic.
The conundrum: if we reject them we're unfair: "have patience". But are we meant to be committed to those who hold us back? We're told ignore them, but then isn't that effectively rejecting them & getting on w/ it? What about when they try to impede/undermine us on the ground?
And for how long will this juvenile state of affairs going round in a circle? For how long will we give currency to reductive thinking/attitudes? Where exactly will intelligent movement come from when it's so easily drowned out by inanity on social media & in mosques?
Does God really want us to associate w/ this? This is the scum (ghuthaa') the Prophet spoke of. This is not civilisational & Muslims really don't seem to be in ANY position to build a civilisation. They think civilisations magically appear by uttering the slogan 'Quran & sunnah'.
Or that aqidah will make the world. Aqidah Tahawiyyah will make us great lol. It's absolute idiocy. Many of the 'makers' of the ancient believing world are celebrated by the very same ppl who hold them ideologically to be disbelieving heretics. Talk about dissonance.
