—because it’s krbk middle 🍰 birthday! #切爆真ん中バースデー2020

have a short story thread!

☆彡 This time, Bakugou was for sure going to win.
Bakugou looked at both ends of the hallway, trying to quietly step out of his room, taking careful steps towards Kirishima’s door.

If he remembered correctly, today was /the day/ and this time (oh oh for sure) he was gonna win against Kirishima.
A limited-edition Crimson Riot hoodie.

The item had been out of stock for years back, sold out as the hero thrived as one of the most popular and sought out.

Bakugou spent months scourging the net for a retro fanatic who may have the item in mint condition.
One socially-draining conversation and business deal later, he had the item in his hands—gift-wrapped to perfection.

Bakugou was surely going to win “best middle birthday present” this time.
Plus, surprising the redhead with the item at 00:02AM of July 18 was definitely plus points.

This was a landslide of a win already.
Bakugou fished out the custom-made extra dorm key (which won the middle birthday contest two years ago) from his pocket, easing it in the hole and turning the knob cautiously.
His spy-like antics failing to be of use as Kirishima opened the door wide open, making the blonde fall flat on his face with the gift still wrapped protectively around his arms.

“Kirishima, what the fuck?!”

“Happy Middle Birthday, Katsuki!”
Bakugou brought himself up, dusting himself off before striding inside Kirishima’s room, proudly walking past the beaming redhead—maybe he wasn’t the earliest but he has this win in the bag.

“What you got there?”

“The present that will blow your mind!”
Forgive him if Bakugou looked rather feral with his full toothed grin, but he was just excited!

He couldn’t wait to see Kirishima’s awed look and have him fawn over how great his present was.

Impatiently tapping the space next to him, he called for Kirishima to sit down.
“You really want to open presents now?”

“What better time than right now? Besides, I’m 100% sure you’d love to sleep with this.”

“You’re my present?”

“No, you idiot!” Bakugou’s face flushed at his response, scooping his mind from the gutter.
Pushing the paperbag in Kirishima’s lap, Bakugou’s leg shook in anticipation.

His expectations of awed looks met successfully.

“Katsuki?! Seriously?!”

“It was easy.” Bakugou couldn’t help but smile smugly.
“I thought these all sold out! I remember crying to my moms about it. Oh my god! You’re so cool!”

Bakugou grinned even wider as his boyfriend fawned over his present.

He could declare his victory right now, but he had to wait for Kirishima’s turn.
“So? Where’s mine?”

“Well...”
Now Kirishima was a competitive guy. And for the past three years, every middle birthday gift-off they had always turned in Kirishima’s favor.
The extra dorm key versus his own baked goods (Bakugou didn’t think the competition was that serious...then.)

The star named after Katsuki versus the life-sized Shark plushie (which he wants to lowkey get rid off during their cuddle sessions)

It was always Kirishima.
In all honesty, Bakugou was kinda excited for what could possibly one-up his present.

“Yes? What did you get me?”
Kirishima beamed at him, fishing his phone out of his pocket and showing his call history.

Mom 🐬 00:00-00:02

“You called your mom?” Bakugou was confused. “Did you leave your present at home?”

“No.”

“Then what?”
“I told them.” Kirishima’s face turned red, his hands reaching for Bakugou’s. “About us, I mean.”

Oh.

/Oh./

Bakugou felt his blood turn cold.
Admittedly, their first attempt at introducing their relationship had gone bad, with Kirishima’s mom voicing out her distaste for her son’s choice of company—most especially with the unflattering display during Sports Festival.
It was Bakugou who (might as well) begged Kirishima to not introduce him as the boyfriend.

He didn’t want them to think Eijirou was in bad hands.

He loved him too much for that.

He was gonna be better, he swore on it.
“And? W-what did they say?” Bakugou didn’t miss the way his voice hitched, his hands gripping Kirishima’s even tighter.

“They want to meet you, Bakugou. They want me to introduce you again, as...” Kirishima couldn’t fight the smile on his face. “As my boyfriend.”
Bakugou couldn’t control himself as he tackled the red down, hugging him tight as he sobbed joyously.

“I’m gonna be better, Eijirou. I promise.”

“You’re already perfect in my eyes, Katsuki.”

Bakugou may have squealed.

No one needs to know.
“So, dinner at my moms’ tomorrow?”

“Yeah. Wait, ah fuck.”

“What’s wrong?”

Bakugou looked at Kirishima, a displeased expression on his face.
“You fucking won again.”
