A THREAD
1. Change your attitude

Treat meat as a side dish. Removing the idea that it’s the “main star” of a dish
2. It’s not a race

Start by cutting meat from one of your daily meals e.g. a meatless dinner like sweet potato curry https://jessicainthekitchen.com/easy-sweet-potato-curry-one-pot/
3. Be creative

At the beginning of my journey, I used ask my mum to remove the meat from my dinner portion and now, I make alternatives of meat dishes by using Quorn or creating a meat-meal just without the meat e.g. roast dinner, I’ll have everything but the meat
4. Make sure you’re eating enough calories

I eat 8 meals (3 main, 3 small, 2 snacks) a day (I go to the gym and play sports, the average person doesn’t need to do this) because vegan and vegetarian foods contain less calories* than animal products

*not always true
5. Craving a burger?

I get meat cravings, shoot me. If you’re craving a beef burger, try the Beyond Burgers. If you’re chicken nuggets, try Quorn nuggets or southern fried chicken pieces, my personal favourite
6. Plan your meals

I use notes on my phone just so I have a rough idea of the meals I want to create. The way to successfully reducing your intake is planning e.g. every Monday, we’re going to have a meat-free dinner and then make a note of what dish you’re going to create
7. You ate meat on meatless Monday didn’t you?

It’s not that deep. Reducing your meat intake should be a personal decision before it’s an environmental decision
8. Learn how to season

Tofu, Quorn etc taste like sh*t without seasoning and I don’t mean salt and pepper. I mean fresh herbs, soy sauce, turmeric, cumin, steak or poultry seasoning e.g. chicken seasoning for a meat-free chicken pie
