Several hundred people are gathered in front of the JC and are listening to people speak from its steps. More are dispersed around the area, at intersection of 3rd and main
The fencing around Chapman and Lownsdale squares that was initially set up yesterday has been torn down
City Commisioner @JoAnnPDX spoke to the crowd from the JC steps
Police are announcing that they are coming to remove the fencing that protesters have set up at 3rd and Madison. Earlier police announced for people to leave Chapman and Lownsdale squares, which has not happened
Officers in DHS uniforms came out and removed the fence on 3rd mid-block across from Terry Schrunk Plaza. Then officers in camo arrived & began spraying the crowd, firing munitions and eventually releasing a ton of very strong gas, which has mostly forced people out of the parks
More pix from 3rd and Main earlier. Those officers went back into I think the Edith Green building. Most protesters fell back west, but as gas has dissipated people are filtering back into the parks and congregating at nearby intersections
They used the swinging gas contraption first seen I believe last night
Again, these are from earlier at 3rd and Madison
It seems like the majority of the protest group has now gathered back at 3rd and main. Haven’t seen any police in a while
Sorry for the delay, having some phone issues now hopefully resolved. People blocked doors at federal courthouse with sections of fence. A smoke bomb was dropped out from courthouse; answered by purple and orange smoke bombs from crowd. LRAD now demanding dispersal
Protesters have now used fencing to barricade doors at the JC and the Edith Green Federal Building. Police briefly came out of the JC and fired munitions from a cutout in the plywood. Protesters have used a few more smoke bombs. LRAD announcements to not block doors, disperse
LRAD announcing this has been declared an unlawful assembly. Says people have five minutes to clear barricades and move weat
I’ll try to do this chronologically... what I believe were PPB officers came north on 2nd to Madison. They pushed us west on Madison
Several people appeared to be detained
Once on 3rd in front of the Justice Center, federal officers appeared (not sure when, i was having trouble seeing and got turned around for a bit) and pushed north with gas, pepper balls and stun grenades
Through Lownsdale Square
Ended up at 3rd and Taylor, where the group I was with stopped. Officers fired pepper balls@and released more gas. Eventually the officers on camo left, then the others followed. Crowd appeared to dissipate for the most part. We’re calling it a night.
