5 years ago this week, the #JCPOA was signed between Iran & P5+1 countries. This agreement was a HUGE milestone in strengthening international diplomacy.đŸ€

AND it was an amazing moment for so many orgs & activists, including WWW, who put in major work to make it happen!đŸ’ȘđŸ”„
From Obama to Trump, it’s been a long, exhausting, and ultimately unfortunate road for the JCPOA. To put it nicely, the Trump’s admin’s reckless drive for war has derailed a historic moment and future path for reforming US/Iran relations.
There's A LOT that happened over the course of this derailment, so we made a useful infographic showing the timeline of the JCPOA, from its first drafting in 2013 to the disastrous #SoleimaniStrike that led Iran to end some commitments to the JCPOA in 2020.
Take a look at this interesting trend: notice July 24, May 8th, and January 5th.👀

From the very start of his presidency, Trump constantly tried to kill any hopes of diplomacy with Iran.😑 Meanwhile, Iran had complied with ALL MAJOR commitments under the JCPOA!
And yet, Trump used fear and disinformation to tear down the JCPOA.

It’s clear that Trump (alongside warhawks like Bolton & Pompeo) has been dead set on undermining Iran/US relations from the start, prioritizing war over diplomacy and lasting solutions.
We hope this infographic helps jog your memory on how we ended up in this diplomatic crisis! Our friends at @NIACouncil also have a great thread on the power of diplomacy, with a look at how we can get back on the right path with US/Iran relations.đŸ’ȘđŸŒŸđŸ€“ https://twitter.com/NIACouncil/status/1283044898434953217?s=20
