Korra (esp s1) has almost a DSM definition of Hyperactive Type ADHD

Lets start with airbending.
It’s established that airbending, requiring patience, introspection, meditation etc, is the most difficult element for Korra to learn. Airbending has no instant gratification for her, and so the element makes no sense to her at first.

When she first tries meditating w/ Tenzin, she gives up almost immediately bc she feels she can’t do it.

She picks up most bending EASILY but the second she faces any sort of setback with airbending, she decides she’s just unable to do it. She’s quick to rise to frustration and see’s her inability to airbend as a reflection of herself rather than just something she needs to practice

She’s quick to rise to emotions and can be reckless. There’s multiple examples of her s1 not thinking things through before she does it (confronting Tarrlok, waiting for amon at air temple island, destroying the air bending practice thing, wanting to fight tahno).

But, my favorite is how she blurts out inappropriate comments. Specifically irt her relationship with Mako. She doesn’t think it through, she just does what she feels and sometimes beats herself up for it after.

When she DOES focus on things, she hyperfocuses. When she starts understanding the basics of airbending we see her practicing every night and when she suspects Hiroshi of being w the equalists she immediately investigates it as much as she can.

Anyway she’s a cartoon character and maybe it’s just her personality but I /do/ have my reasons for saying she has adhd and im not gonna stop bc i think its fun. Thanks for coming to my ted talk korra has adhd and i love her
