Having some gender anxiety today so I& #39;m tweeting through it. (Also this isn& #39;t meant as a subtweet, but a reminder.)
I appreciate being included in "women in sports to follow" lists! I do! But as I am not a woman, that appreciation is quickly overshadowed by panic and self-doubt.

Is having a nonbinary pronoun in my bio not enough? Do I need to come out every day, or to everyone individually, to make sure I& #39;m gendered correctly? Or will cis people always just see nonbinary people as "women" or "men" depending on how we look (or if we use a binary pronoun)?
There is no one-size-fits-all approach to gender. Gender is complicated and messy. But cis people — cis "allies" especially — must help ease that burden by checking their assumptions and ensuring that their desire to get it right outweighs those assumptions.
