Lightfoot: We are gathered here to take the next step in our community discussion in how to ensure our children stay safe.

Will release of preliminary framework for CPS 2020-2021 school year.
Lightfoot: CPS must and will continue engaging the entire school community, notably parents and teachers.

This has been un-chartered territory for all of us.
Lightfoot: Now we’re laying the groundwork for our newest challenge: how do we make sure our children stay safe and engaged during school year.
Lightfoot: We are evaluating a hybrid model: learning from home and learning from school. Must meet all health and safety guidelines outlined by Dr. Arwady.
Lightfoot: There will be options for you. This is a framework to serve as a jumping off point for engagement with entire school community.

Over next 2 weeks, CPS will step up engagement with all stakeholders to ensure everyone’s voices are heard.
Lightfoot says this all includes having a plan in place for when COVID-19 spread occurs, and it will occur.

"Education will happen this fall. School will happen this fall."
Lightfoot: We will work to get through this. I am confident that we will.
Dr. Jackson (CPS)

Hybrid model is the best model for our students this school year.
Dr. Jackson is laying out the idea for the hybrid model right now. I have to stop live-tweeting to attend a meeting but click the link in this thread to keep listening - Tiffany (TRiiBE, editor-in-chief).
