Apropos on a Friday afternoon, I've decided to do a thread of my favourite ever costuming in cinema. To begin with: Thea Van Runkle and Alan Levine's work on McQueen and Dunaway in the '68 Thomas Crown Affair.
The architecture & fashions of Mussolini's Italy in the 30s are brought to life stunningly in Bertolucci's The Conformist. The costumer, Gitt Magrini, also did Last Tango in Paris and La Notte.
Edith Head giving all the extra she could possibly give in 1964 comedy What a Way to Go! Shirley Maclaine's wigs alone deserve an award.
Alain Delon looking absolutely delicious as faux playboy Tom Ripley in Plein Soleil (1960)
This suit and old-style grey homburg hat on Fred Williamson in Black Caesar (1973), though the man wore all his clothes pretty damn well
OK I'm off for the evening but I think I'm going to keep adding to this thread later, it's so fun!
