When we think aristocracy, we usually think about a tiny percentage of people holding grand titles

But did you know that the real number of aristocrats was often around 5-10%% of the population?
There are many levels of aristocracy

From simple titels like sir, all the way up to king or even emperor

But let's focus on that 5% figure right now

So European societies were about:

1-10%% ๐‘Ž๐‘Ÿ๐‘–๐‘ ๐‘ก๐‘œ๐‘๐‘Ÿ๐‘Ž๐‘ก๐‘
15-20% ๐‘“๐‘Ÿ๐‘’๐‘’๐‘š๐‘’๐‘›
75-80% ๐‘ ๐‘’๐‘Ÿ๐‘“๐‘
I'm guestimating a little here, but that 5% owned 80% of land & money

The 15-20% freemen owned the other 20%

The serfs owned practically nothing

This system operated quite stabilly for 100's of years

Why did it eventually end?

The industrial revolution meant that the main way of making money was no longer owning land

It was owning resources, factories, technology & manpower

Serfs could make more money working in the freemen's factories

And thus aristocracy lost most of their money & power
But did the percentages ever change?

Not really

The aristocracy simply got replaced by bankers & industrialists

5% of the people still owned 80% of everything

the next 15-20% of people owned 20%

The rest owned nothing

(Starting to see a pattern here?)
Ignoring the small anomaly that happened between 1945-1970ish

You can see the exact same thing happening again today

About 5% of the population owning 80% of everything

About 15-20% owning their fair share of 20%

And everyone else basically owns nothing
The only reason why it's not as obvious now as it used to be in 1400

Is that general living standards have increased massively thanks to technology

Now what is the point of this entire thread?
The aristocratic system is the natural division of power & wealth for humans

No matter how the system changes, you'll always hover around

5% owning 80%
15-20% owning 20%
And everyone else owning nothing
You can't save most people

The population will always be

80% ๐‘ ๐‘’๐‘Ÿ๐‘“๐‘
15% ๐‘“๐‘Ÿ๐‘’๐‘’ ๐‘š๐‘’๐‘›
5% ๐‘Ž๐‘Ÿ๐‘–๐‘ ๐‘ก๐‘œ๐‘๐‘Ÿ๐‘Ž๐‘ก๐‘

However, there is one huge difference between today and the 1400's

Mobility between the classes has become easier
It has become possible to go from being a serf with nothing

To becoming a freeman owning his fair share

To even becoming an aristocrat owning a lot
It's not easy to move up the ranks for several reasons

- Nobody ever taught you how to earn money
- You will have to accept your fellow serfs won't grow with you
- Those in the aristocracy & free guilds have an interest in keeping others out

But it can be done
And also know that once you reach the aristocracy

You'll come across those same numbers

5% own 80% of the wealth

15% own t20%

The rest own nothing (compared to the billionaire class)
So what's the morale of this thread?

It's for you to realize how human society has always been structured

No point in fighting it, focus on winning it

The aristocrats of today might be poor tomorrow

But there will always be new aristocrats

Best make sure you're one of them
