Queer public sex is at the heart of a culture war b/t radical queers vs reformists. Under the surface, anti-public sex views are steeped in racism, classism, gentrification, and police surveillance.

Why public sex is integral to queerness. For @dailydot. https://www.dailydot.com/irl/public-sex-lgbtq/
This cover story clocks in at over 3,000 words. It goes through a LOT of issues at the heart of public sex and sexual expression at Pride, including:

- Capitalism and home ownership
- Whiteness and queer gentrification
- Race, class, and public sex
- Trauma from the AIDS crisis
- Public sex and consent
- Locations that are/aren't off-limits for public sex
- Technology, heteronormativity, assimilation, and public sex
- Quasi-public sex vs. completely public sex
- White urban queers calling for "public safety" via policing
- Cruising as foundational to queer expression
- Hypocrisy between straight and queer public sex-havers
- Is all sex public sex now?
There is a LOT going on in this piece and I'm sure it will spark some post-Pride month discourse, so I highly encourage reading it in full. It addresses a lot of concerns I've been thinking about over the past year, such as consent to exposure. A lot of good POVs on that here
The TLDR is that even among those who practice public sex there is no golden rule. Opinions vary from "limit public exposure" to "don't be too obnoxious" to "nothing is off-limits." Public sex isn't a binary, its biggest advocates all have different codes of conduct
