Hello guys! So may valid concern si anon and we will be answering this in the thread below. Please take time to read and understand our response. Thank you! 😁
First and foremost, gusto naming magpasalamat kay anon for raising this concern kasi it really is a glaring issue especially in the stan twitter community. Karamihan sa mga nandito ay minors, thus napakadali nilang ma-influence with the things they read online +
SPECIFICALLY things that are considered taboo to talk about in most households, such as sex and sexuality. Not all parents are open to sex education especially for young, pubescent teenagers especially that our culture is very conservative with these things +
We understand that kahit na we repeatedly try and exhume all possible actions, may mga minors pa rin who would try and sate their curiosity by reading mature genres. We also agree na readers should have the right mindset when reading such things +
Basically, kailangan ng proper sex education. We have deliberated amongst ourselves and we plan on making a thread about what consent and coercion is among others to try and educate the audiences na rin. We are not professionals but we will do our best to +
Look for credible and reliable sources that discusses basic sex education and share it to the public and explain it in simple words. We also have age restrictions for the writers as well as to who are allowed to write genres that are not suitable for young audiences +
We also urge our aspiring writers to continuously remind their readers about warnings and disclaimers and to not promote any dangerous, problematic as well as degrading and discriminatory behaviors and attitudes, we also strictly condone sexualization of the idols in the AUs +
Next, the organizers have discussed and we strongly believe that allowing romance as a sub-genre for the smut category is not unfair to the other genres because it would seem like a story without any sense and will be just a plain adult/mature theme without any value. +
Giving the authors an option to include romance or not would give them much more room to navigate writing mature scenes since hindi madaling magsulat ng 'tasteful' at hindi malaswang mature scene. Second, having it as a sub-genre would minimize over-sexualizing +
The idols portraying the characters in the story which is an issue here on stan twt and in the AU community. Yes, major concern na a lot of readers would flock to the smut genre pero rest assured na we will do everything we can to remind the readers that there +
Are other exciting au genres they can read. Also, nasa writer na po 'yon on how they can make their AUs interesting and catch the attention of the readers, regardless of genre. We also believe na just because smut with a hint of romance ang isang story, doesn't mean +
Papatok agad ito sa madla. Marami pang factors ang dapat i-take into consideration when reading AUs and critiquing a writers' work +
With that being said, the organizers will still push through with including smut as a genre in the AU fest 😊

Thank you po for also raising this concern and for your support for the AU fest. If ever may mga suggestions kayo on how we can go about the concern, you can +
