the prosecutor is p salty. https://tulsaworld.com/news/local/defense-wants-video-released-that-shows-officers-being-shot-during-traffic-stop/article_38c89dbe-a12e-537d-b35f-94744915947c.html

But a prosecutor acknowledged a police affidavit pretty significantly misrepresented some of the actions of the accused shooter. https://tulsaworld.com/news/local/judge-video-showing-shooting-of-2-tulsa-police-officers-wont-be-released-for-now/article_47aa75d2-a959-556e-9478-94605660c6dd.html

this tweet and the next two are the defense's recitation of what video of the June 29 shooting of Tulsa Police Sgt. Craig Johnson/Officer Aurash Zarkeshan shows. (it is quite detailed.)
Of note:
-allegations of muting of body cam
-use of OC spray
-entry of the (alleged) co-defendant's vehicle on dash cam footage https://www.oscn.net/dockets/GetCaseInformation.aspx?db=tulsa&number=CF-2020-2889&cmid=3363038

more from the defense's account:
-some more physical force and OC spray
-alleged kick from the sergeant to the defendant's "groin area"
-last slide has a recount of the sequence of shots

here's the prosecutor's written response, in part. i detect more than a little snark in these two slides, even amid the acknowledgement a lieutenant had to file a supplemental report to correct the inaccuracy in the affidavit.

honestly: it is extremely important in every case, including this very high-profile one, for authorities to investigate and report what occurred correctly. and it is yet another reminder that the appearance of a statement in a police affidavit is not a guarantee of its accuracy.
whatever one thinks of the defense's approach and argument for the public release of video of the shooting of a police sergeant (who is dead) and an officer with a long recovery process -- comments like that (especially when misleading) can really impact everyone's perception.
and another thing: police PIOs have reprimanded us in the media or expressed irritation behind the scenes when we go outside of the PIO protocol to get information about cases and investigations/make a mistake.
it even happened in this case, which....oof. https://twitter.com/samanthavicent/status/1278081115719380993?s=19

Maybe @repkevinhern and @RepMullin will reconsider their past comments about this case in light of these revelations.
