Today I got to experience what I’m sure a lot of patients and family members are experience during this time of covid. Today was the day that my puppy had to get spayed. In general, I am very happy with my Vet. The office staff are very friendly and scheduling is easy.
Under covid the vet is not allowing anyone into the office besides the pet. On her initial evaluation for the procedure I waited outside under a tent in the middle of a tropical storm. They called me during her P/E and said everything was ok. We scheduled the sx for 4 days later
I didn’t receive any literature on what to expect. I even asked the vet to go over it with me bc I was nervous. She said it would be a 10 day healing time and they keep her overnight. I had a lot of anxiety about this but my friends and family said it would be fine.
I show up today for the procedure with penny and they cancelled the procedure bc she didn’t fast. No one told me she had to fast. No one called to remind me she had to fast.
My point is during covid, in the absence of face to face communication, we should be making sure we are still providing thorough education and not cutting corners with our patients or family members.
