As we get set to enjoy the rainy weekend, curled up indoors with a book, The Curious Reader team shares our favourite monsoon reads. Let us know in the comments what your monsoon comfort read is. #Monsoon2020 #Thread
Nirbhay Reads: Vikram Chandra's Red Earth and Pouring Rain takes a little getting used to. Impossible to define in any genre, you need time to savour each part and what better time to get started than on a rainy day with a hot cuppa in one hand and this mammoth book in the other?
Devanshi Reads: I always go back to Perry Mason during the monsoons because they are short, action-packed novels which keep me on tenterhooks till the end. They challenge me and keep me engaged even though I've read all of them multiple times.
Oishani Reads: Jennifer Crusie's Bet Me is my go-to comfort read during the monsoon. It's a witty, heart-warming romance with a well-executed storyline and a heroine who is obsessed with making the perfect chicken marsala. This cosy read is ideal with a cup of coffee by your side
Prasanna Reads: While thunder rages on outside, I like a little bit of familiarity mixed with adventure in my monsoon reading. I always find myself going back to the Percy Jackson series which narrates the adventures of half-man, half-god, and his friends in a mythical world.
Rhea Reads: My comfort reading is Rohinton Mistry's books. Tales From Firozsha Baag humorously captures the eccentricities of the Parsi community. His beautiful melange of characters transports me to a bygone era of Bombay. The short tales are perfect for a cosy read.
Shubham Reads:Ruskin Bond’s Time Stops At Shamli captures the simple pleasures of small towns. Ruskin takes a chance and gets down at Shamli and in short borrowed time, he finds his lost love. The book is for the romantic in me as I read it on my balcony with a cup of coffee.
