The morning after the night before, turns out I’m still frustrated.

There has never been a bigger divide between what fans want & what the Premier League are providing. VAR is sucking the life out of the game.

Football without emotion is what we’re now getting.
Goals are at the heart of the game, VAR, or should I say, the EPL’s execution of VAR, has managed to take away the fan experience of celebrating goals going in. You score but you dare not celebrate whilst some spotty geek & a traffic warden try to find a way to disallow it.
VAR is a killjoy, plain & simple, it manages to take the fun & emotion out of an explosive moment of celebration.

Offside: gaining to seek an advantage. How can any player be trying to seek an advantage by being less than 1cm offside?
That’s assuming the geek has the technology 100% accurate & freezes the image at the exact frame the ball leaves a players foot.

Remember when the interpretation of the rule was ‘benefit of the doubt with the attacker’? It was to help see more goals. Surely a good thing?
I love my Serie A, they also have VAR but the big difference, the referee is encouraged to use the screens & doesn’t feel undermined if needs to change their mind because they got a decision wrong. The Sakho shoulder ball & Wilf clipped from behind were both worthy of the that.
We haven’t got our games now being decided by a referee who has never played the game, we’ve got our game being decided by a computer geek & a retired referee hanging about in a caravan in an industrial estate whilst fans wonder what the hell is going on.
These faceless ‘fun spoilers’ have no accountability, make a decision based on their interpretation of fact & the rules and ultimately determine what we are served up. How long before the first match fixing scandal?
CPFC have had 3 bad decisions of VAR within a week, it’s why I’m ranting now. Deep down though I’ve been frustrated all season by the EPL’s use of the system. Love & emotion are at the heart of football & fans, it’s what the EPL commercialise. Take away that & you lose your game.
I have yet to meet a football fan in England who believes VAR has improved the game for them as a fan. This is our game & without any say or input into it, the Premier League has fundamentally changed it for us. It needs changing & it needs changing quickly.
