This subject has come up a few times already today so I thought I'd give my two cents:

If you're wondering why there are so many racist, sexist, homophobic, etc. mexican furries: It's the culture. Mexican (and latinamerican as a whole) culture is very VERY deeply "conservative".

Like take every preconceived notion you have of the sexism, racism, white supremacy, oppression, etc. ingrained in western culture, maybe american culture specifically. Now multiply that by like 1.5x at least. That's mexican culture.

I mention american culture specifically because it's such a big influence on our own culture as well, specially in the bad parts.

If you think "mexican racists/white supremacists" makes no sense, since white people are racists against mexicans, think of colorism.

We have this term called "whitexicans", people who think their light skin and class position puts them above every "indio" and poor mexican, people would throw anyone under the bus to be acknowledged by white people as one of their own.

We all grow up in these racists, sexists, homophobic cultures. Some of us grow out of it, some of us don't. It's just that mexican culture, specially in some parts of the country, is so aggressive in a way, specially because mocking anyone who falls out of line is so encouraged.

Even in the people who I feel have broken out of the mold set by the standards of the culture, you can still see glimpses of those dark parts of the culture that prevail.

We're all learning. I'm sure I myself said some pretty yikes-y stuff in my recorded corner of the internet

Now I know what I'm saying is gonna make ME look like a whitexican because it seems like I'm saying "mexican culture bad" but I'm not, I'm very proud of my culture, but it's that pride that makes me disappointed in the darker parts of it we can't shake off.

Anyway there's no conclusion or moral to this thread. I'm just giving my two cents because at least two of my friends have mentioned today "how can there be mexican white supremacists". Racists and sexist people can exist in every culture, and we should all try to be better lol.
