I had the privilege of seeing my family when they were camping near me. My niece and nephew started complaining about masks, (they& #39;re young), I told them it was ok for them to complain because they& #39;re kids, but explained how they help, and they agreed it was right to help. https://twitter.com/leahmcelrath/status/1283957409925472257">https://twitter.com/leahmcelr...
They are kids and they miss their friends but they understand public health and basic germ theory. They don& #39;t want to hurt others by not wearing a mask.
The eldest niece and nephew are able to understand this. They miss their friends but rightly stay away from those that don& #39;t believe in science. Our campfire talks were amazing; I have hope for future generations.
Yeah my sister has 4 kids; I have 3 cats. Stop with your judgement we& #39;re talking net zero population increase.
So anyways, back to adults and kids. When I explained to the kiddos how ppl were acting like kids, throwing tantrums in stores bc of mask req, they asked me why adults didn& #39;t want to listen to experts (other adults telling them what to do). Kids ask good questions.
Being an adult means not having to listen to anyone, but also means knowing when to listen to others who know more than you and want to help. And the consequences of not listening are more important now than ever.
You need to wear a mask to protect others from you, and you from others. You need to wash your hands. I don& #39;t want you to die. Or my family. Idc about me low self esteem lol. We all took risks in meeting but it was a good calculated risk.
Seriously though, kids are germ factories and I can& #39;t imagine starting schools during the height (I hope) of a pandemic. But I never went through active shooter drills as a kid either. Earthquake only. What the fuck is wrong with & #39;Murica when she is asking both of our children?
To conclude this thread, I just want to say props to everyone who hates masks but wears them anyways. Props to the peeps coordinating their masks to their outfit. Props to my friend keeping themself sane by sewing masks for others. Props to local reporters telling us what& #39;s up.
